Estimation can also be stated as predicting for future. Certain decisions need to be taken by estimation only. There is very few chance that our estimation works out properly in 100 percentage. There will be a definite deviation from the actual value that we receive from the estimated value. This difference between actual and the predicted value is called as error. If the estimated value is higher than the actual value, then it is called under estimation and vice versa is called as over estimation. Over estimation can be forgiven, if we get the value less than our estimation, we have to see where we have given a wrong prediction and should rectify it next time.
But under estimation is a mistake as we ourselves valuate something less than it's original value. If this scenario happens in business, there might be some financial losses. But, if this happens in someone's personal life, then it might result in a disaster. It is very difficult for a person to estimate another person's behavior. Initial stages of knowing about that person, will be based on their estimation of another person. But, after having a good relationship or friendship with that person, if we came to know that our estimation about that person is not true and we have done an under estimation on them, then it will be painful but still we would try to compromise with it and continue our friendship or relationship with them.
We might feel pity for them and try to help them. But, they might be stronger than us in many aspects and they would never showcase their strengths. This might not be intentional or some times they would have not discovered their strengths by themselves or they might follow a defensive strategy in their approach. Any of the above mentioned might be the reason for doing so. But we should understand one thing, if we try to develop someone, it works out in a certain cases, but there is a chance that it may backfire and turn awry for us also. So, I would like to say that we need to be careful about estimating others and maintain a distance so that, our estimation about others does not affect us personally.
