I dont know the exact English word for this term, We used to call a term as "Kutti suvar", which has exact translation as small wall, but I don't know exact meaning of that word. The place where teenagers especially boys used to sit and discuss about something. They have a gutty feeling sitting on those small wall. It is a entertainment which we used to get. Most of the boys from our state would have experienced sitting on the small wall. We never know what to speak, but when we start to sit on that, we forget ourselves and keep on chatting for long hours, until someone reminds that it is time to leave, such is the specialty of these small walls.
Boys like playing outdoor games and if there is nothing to play, this is a greater time pass to them, sitting on these walls and chatting. They like to sit on these walls till they are bachelor, once they become a family man, they would like to put a full stop to it as they won't feel respected sitting like this in front of their wife. This activity happens from the schooling which will take place roughly from the age group of 11 may be. The main importance of wall starts when they start to play outdoor games. While playing they might hit the ball to another compound and might get scolding from them as a result of disturbance. As a result they might have to jump walls to get their play items which had fallen accidentally in another building.
Sometimes, when no one is there in that building, they might sit on that wall also. The things these boys might discuss would be mostly about the girls. Then next important topics that would be discussed might be about sports or movies. Then they would tease the staffs or teachers whom they don't like at all. They might start with some topic and end up discussing something else. It will be like a random group discussion. It will be totally informal and fun doing this. I have had this experience many times in my life. Missing those lovely days and just recalling those wonderful memories.
