PICKLE

                                  As we all know, that I have already discussed a lot about the curd rice. The best side dish for curd rice, nonetheless would be pickle. Pickle is nothing but the vegetable cut into some slices and the salt is being added. There are a lot of home made pickles and the pickle manufacturing companies. It gives us a great taste and makes us eat even some tasteless foods. In case if mother is not able to make any side dish in home, the first choice of side dish would be pickle. In certain cases, we wouldn't like the side dish made by mom and there also we might look out for pickle. Such is the specialty of pickle.

                                  The pickles can be stored for a some months to a few years time interval, provided we don't disturb the mixture. There are few hotels in which pickles may not be available. In most of the marriages in and around south India, there will be a definite dish in the menu card by the name of some pickle. I am not sure about the North Indian marriages as I have not attended much of them. I have heard from my friends those who drink alcohol, that the pickle can be the cheapest and best side dish that can be taken with alcohol. There is a famous saying in tamil "unbothaikku naan oorugaya" ( Am I side dish for your addiction).

                                   Making of pickle is easy for our people and it is one of the small scale industries in most parts of Tamil Nadu. There are a lot of specialists in making pickle. And people from different regions of south have different tastes and they are experts in bringing the tastes to pickles. There are certain people who should not eat pickle, as the oily content is more, it is better for them to avoid eating pickles. But, on the whole Pickle is cheap and best side dish that has benefitted many mothers across India. My favorite is Lemon, Mango and Garlic pickle. The favorites vary according to the persons.
